My life in a glimpse
In my life i have three main passions: software, philosophy and music.
I can’t exclude any of these passions, or i will feel alone and missing a scope.
I was born in a small country, Moncrivello, in West Northern Italy. I was one year old when my family relocated in Torino, where i grew up and made my studies, getting a diplome of non graduated engineer in Industrial Electronics. My professional history begun in Honeywell Information Systems Italia, where i served as a software engineer, in the Research Department in Pregnana, near Milan. Later I joined a software house, Sysdata Cap Gemini, serving as a project leader and project manager, in the last years of that experience. In ’90s i was a free lance consultant, and in 2000 i founded a small enterprise, Andromeda s.r.l., designing and developing real time automated systems for industry, infrastructures, aerospace, robotics. In the aerospace and defence domains, I had the opportunity to deal with quality standards. In order to facilitate the standards application i developed a lean and effective methodology and a suite of software integrated tools, for systems engineering and project lifecycle management.
Since very early interested to social issues, on the side of humanity, I developed my philosophical reflection, starting by a critics of the “Limits to growth” position, developed by Aurelio Peccei and it’s Club of Rome. From the very beginning i realized that, while the concept of our planet as a finite mass of resources is correct, mankind is not obliged to accept such limit. Having the means to travel in space, our civilization can and shall expand over the boundaries of our mother planet. Such an orientation lead me to found the Space Renaissance movement, and to publish several papers and books on the theme of expanding civilization into the outer space.
I begun playing guitar when i was 14 years old. My first love was Rythm ‘n Blues. But i also worked with some theater companies, including La Comune with Franca Rame, taking care of music and, in some cases, direction. My artistic history developed through latin music, that enriched my rythmic perception. Finally i reached jazz, contemporary jazz and fusion, with a quite interesting crossfertilization with classic music.
