THIS IS ME

A quick view of my personal history, experience and ideals

In my life i have never tried to restrain my curiosity. And my curiosity lead me to know more about technologies, music, philosophy and social processes.

MY PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

After getting my diplom in Industrial Electronics I attended Computer Science Faculty at Torino University, but i interrupted my studies when i begun to work at Honeywell Information Systems, in 1971, where i learned the basics of software programming. Later i served as software engineer and project leader in a software house. Since 1991 I was a small entrepreneur, in the field of real time software systems, for industry, infrastructures, research and aerospace.

During the last 15 years before retirement, i deepened the system engineering and project lifecycle management methodologies and sw tools, developing STEPS, an integrated suite of tools to manage requirements, test engineering, open issues, documents and all of the quality items in a complex project.

SPACE RENAISSANCE PHILOSOPHY

Since my very young age, i used to reflect about humanity. its history and its future. During 1980’s I kicked off my work on the main issues faced by our civilization. My first study was the “Limits to growth”, issued by MIT for the Club Of Rome of Augusto Peccei. Immediately i understood that humanity cannot accept any limits to growth. Having the means — intelligence, self-awareness and culture — we can expand into space, taking profit of the resources of the Solar System. As the world wide web was developing, i developed Technologies of the Frontier, a webzine that allowed me to get in touch wth many space advocates in the world. In 2008 we gave birth to Space Renaissance Initiative, a think tank that promotes the civilian development of outer space.

FROM R&B TO JAZZ, AND MORE

The passion for music was infected to me by my dear grandfather Vittorio, who used to play violin as a non professional musician. When i was fourteen i had my first guitar, and i never stopped playing. During 1960’s in Torino, in several Rythm ‘n Blues bands. Later, in Milano, i had the experience that changed my music perception, in a band of Latin music, together with Centro-American musicians. After that experience i moved myself to a more serious study of my instrument and music. In the same time i got more and more interest for jazz, contemporary jazz and fusion. More recently i was honoured to collaborate with Elena Cecconi, a world famous classic flutist. With her i gave birth to a flute-guitar-bass trio, working together her classic sound in a jazzy mood, the Jazzy Mood Project, with Pierangelo Bassignana on double bass. The Moon Walkers Jazz Band is a project lasting since 2012, with Fabrizio Averono on bass, and other musicians such as Franco Tonso on keyboards, Eugenio Quagliotti on drums, Vito Badalà on percussions.
